About the Author :

JULIE MORENO was introduced to the world of purebred dogs when her father gave her a tiny sleeve Pekingese. In 1967, Julie joined the Northern California Pomeranian Club and eventually became an officer. A year later, she also joined the American Pomeranian Club, where she discovered a litter of well-bred young Poms from which she selected a tiny female. This female grew up to be Julie's first champion, Moreno's What's New Pussy Kat.

Julie soon began breeding Poms and takes great pride in her first two homebred champions, Moreno's Mouse In A Muff and Moreno's Gin Rickey. The number of champions finishing under the Moreno title eventually grew to 18, with the most recent finishing at the end of 1998.

Through the years, Julie has worked with Dolly and Laurence Trauner, two highly respected Pomeranian breeders. Together, Julie and Laurence founded the Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF) to further the research of eye abnormalities in dogs. Julie is licensed with the American Kennel Club to judge Pomeranians, Japanese Chins, Pekingese, Shih Tzu, Yorkshire Terriers, and three varieties of Poodles.
