Author - Ellen McCulloch has held a number of positions in the Bird Observers Club of Australia and was awarded Life Membership in 1985. She has been a voluntary worker for the Museum of Victoria for a number of years. In 1990 she was awarded the Australian Natural History Medallion and in the Australia Day Honours 1991 she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to ornithology.
