My dog hated the heat pad as it was too hard for him. Admittedly he is a small pomeranian/chihuahua. Needs blankets to cover and the pad and make it softer. Does keep the heat though and is a good product.

I bought a SnuggleSafe Heat Pad for my ferret. She loves it but it can irritate eyes, as it is warm and sometimes pets seem to overheat themselves. The heat pad is small, about a bit bigger than a sandwhich plate - not as big as a dinner plate. For dogs it really wouldn't benefit. The box says that after being in a 650 Watt microwave oven for 6 mins it will stay hot for up to 12 hours. I have an old microwave at 540 Watts and heat for 8 mins - it only stays warm for 5 hours.
