VICKI ABBOTT became involved in purebred dogs over 30 years ago and has owned, bred, and shown Toy Poodles, Miniature Schnauzers, Collies, Pekingese, Maltese, Shih Tzu, and Shiba Inu.

It was the beauty of the Maltese that captured Vicki's heart and finally consumed her interest. She launched a breeding program in earnest under the Scylla Maltese kennel name. In purebred dog circles the names Maltese and Vicki Abbott are practically synonymous. She was the American Maltese Association's Education Chairperson and helped create the club's AKC educational video on the Maltese. For seven consecutive years she handled the top-winning Maltese in the U.S., and she is particularly proud of her accomplishments with Ch. Sand Island Small Kraft Lite ("Henry"), the greatest-winning Maltese of all time.

The countless wins and awards garnered by the dogs Vicki has shown earned her the Kennel Review Best New Female professional Handler Award in 1991. She has earned an international reputation for her unique ability to train, condition, and present the Maltese in the show ring.
